Invite is a product of the Medill School of Journalism publishing project at Northwestern University. For three months, 19 graduate students worked day and night to develop a magazine for people interested in entertaining at home. Extensive surveys confirmed the need for the magazine in the market place, and the staff worked diligently to sell more than $700,000 in advertising. In today’s marketplace, however, we know that few magazines launch on just advertising alone. As a result, we also developed an aggressive marketing and promotions strategy aimed at securing brand partnerships.
