Beans for dessert? Its true the bean
has broken out of its utilitarian role in chilis
and stews and is being used in innovative ways.
An Asian tradition, bean-based desserts have moved
into the realm of fusion cuisine, with decidedly
deliciously results.
Not every bean works best for dessert, but azuki,
red and mung are superb options for sweet treats.
Red beans are the best for presentation, and are
readily available in any supermarket. Most health
food stores carry azuki and mung beans.
The next time you entertain, forget pie and ice
cream. Get inventive with this rich, yet refreshing
bean dessert.
