Guest
I’m planning a shower for my friend. She’s
provided me the names and contact numbers for
the people she would like to be there. But hardly
anyone on the list has called back to confirm.
How can I find out what they’re planning
to do? Food, favors and other things depend on
how many people are attending.
Ah, the unreachable guest. Whether it’s a
family issue, deadlines at work or doctor’s
visits filling the PDA, we’ve all been guilty
of not returning messages. Call everyone again,
giving a firm deadline for response. Those not
planning to attend might rather let your calls
die out than have to say no, so give them another
way to respond. Ask your friend for their email
addresses and also try the guests there. And the
next time you feel too busy to return a friend’s
call, remember this moment and pick up the phone.
