Dixon
Springs State Park
10,000
years before the hustle and bustle of city life, Native Americans
lived in Illinois.
If you want to uncover some state history and get in touch with
nature, then the campgrounds and parks of Illinois are waiting
for you.
Dixon
Springs State Park in the Illinois Shawnee Hills is a diverse
camping location for novice or experienced adventure seekers.
Dixon Springs has something all of your friends should enjoy.
You can go swimming, have a picnic or go camping at one of ten
sites on the grounds. But you can also get away from telling ghost
stories by the campfire, and play basketball, volleyball or go
to the horseshoe pits and archery range.
The
park is 801 acres, but don't be tempted to hunt the critters you're
sharing the forest with.
Check out @chicago's camping tips before you try to make that
squirrel stew.
